Many great performances were witnessed this year, but I would have to say that the most creative individual freestyle was performed by Sky Kiyabu, a THP player, now the new Single A champion, taking on this title from last year's champ Cody Kiyabu, his younger brother. Sky's routine consisted of doing many tricks through a small hoop, such as Split the atom, Around the world, Shoot the moon, etc... The likes which have only been seen done by Dale Myberg and other such players. Continuing through with switch to a Viper yo-yo, without the string attached and did such stunts as laying on his back and bouncing the yo-yo on the string, into the air, and back onto the string again. Leaving the crowd awe inspired. Then there was the performance of Alex Garcia. WOW!! Alex finished the Final round of compulsories, down by five points, not knowing if he would advance to the last round, the Freestyle portion. As everyone waited anxiously to hear who would go on, soon the judges list was read. And to everyone's delight "Alex Garcia" came over the speakers, Including I believe around 12 other great players. Soon the freestyle finalists got in their focused state, and all went out to give wonderful performances. Alex this year chooses to use a comedy number that put smiles on the crowd's face. Implementing his fun, and very silly personality into his routine, this combined with a very technical, fast paced, smooth, and near perfect routine gave him a freestyle score higher than any of the others. As the music ended, and Alex did his last trick, the audience overwhelmed with excitement jumped to their feet with applause, and cheers of amazement. I myself was as excited with this performance by my teammate, as I was with my performance and win last year. My congratulations to all of the winners of this event, and to all those who gave it there best shot. A job well done by all!
